Heritage Bank has grown from our origins in Toowoomba in 1875 to become one of Australia’s largest customer-owned banks. Heritage is proudly customer-owned and committed to giving back to the communities we serve.

In March 2023, Heritage Bank entered a new phase in our history, by merging with People’s Choice Credit Union to create one of Australia’s leading member-owned banking organisations. On 5 May 2026 People First Bank officially launched. For an interim period we will continue to operate under the Heritage Bank brand, alongside the People First Bank brand while we continue our integration process.

People First Bank will be our new brand that says exactly what we’re all about: people.

We’re taking a phased approach to introducing all aspects of the new brand which we intend to roll out across branches, products, digital channels, sponsorships and the community over time.
